You know what would be really cool? If I’d just gotten back from Colonial Williamsburg and had lots of photos and activities and stuff to share with you. As it turns out…
I haven’t gone to Colonial Williamsburg yet this year. It’s been on my to do list, though, does that count? However, you may be more fortunate than I and are planning to head to Virginia to experience living history. And if you are, have I got news for you. First, Williamsburg is running a special, starting this month (May) and running through September.
Second, before you leave, you need to grab a copy of my buddy Kris Bordessa’s fantastic book, Great Colonial America Projects. This isn’t a sit-and-flip-through-the-pages kind of book. It’s a get-off-your-rear-and-get-your-hands-busy tome. Your kids will be dyeing and spinning yarn, weaving cloth, creating tin plates and lanterns. You want to know what the heck wattle and daub construction is (and really, who doesn’t?)? Look no further!
And just because Kris is a generous kind of person, here’s an activity straight from the book to get you started.
