To mark the Grand Opening of the Polka Dot Suitcase, I’m giving away one of my books, The Human Body: 25 Fantastic Projects Illuminate How the Body Works. It’s geared toward kids from 9-12, but no matter how old you are, tell me you don’t want to learn how to make homemade skin care products or find out what happens if you decalcify a bone? And do you really want to just be squirting some lame dollar store squirt gun with your kids or at the office picnic when you could be firing off your very own double-barrel pumping heart squirter?
See? You know you want this book. Don’t have kids of your own? Go ahead, win this and give it to a kid you know. Don’t know any kids? Give it to a librarian. They usually know a kid or two.
As I was researching the book, it dawned on me how amazing our bodies really are. All the industrious little cells flowing determinedly along their designated paths, carrying out their pre-determined objectives. Healing cuts, flipping images from our eyes to our brains, passing gas…amazing stuff. How incredible that we can do all the things we take for granted every day.
So this week, I’m planning on pulling some fun stuff out of the polka dot suitcase to honor the human body. Some stupid human tricks, some betcha-you-didn’t-know-these facts, and stuff to make you go, “Hmmm…”
In the meantime: About that book giveaway. Just leave a comment here, in this post, any time between today and 9:00 p.m. EST on Friday, March 20th (sorry, for shipping reasons, entrants are limited to the U.S.). I’ll toss ’em all into a cyber hat and randomly select one. Meet you back here next Monday and I’ll announce the lucky winner. While you’re waiting anxiously, come back this week to check out some fun human stuff!
