Sea-Monkeys are Awesome!!!

Well, Sir Buffalo Sushi is back once more! And guess what you will know after reading this post… THAT SEA-MONKEYS DIDN’T DIE OUT IN THE 70’s!

I have a HUGE tank of sea-monkeys, (pop. 90-150), and while I was feeding them their weekly “Super Strong Sea-monkey food”, I wondered “Does anyone but me have sea-monkeys?”. So you guys, the people, answer me… Does anyone but me have sea-monkeys? I mean, you had to when you were a kid, a time when you could get some sea-monkey eggs for 25 cents! Come on, now that I think of it, I bought my sea_monkey_sir1sea-monkeys for $10! But guess what, the package says that the sea-monkeys will live 1-2 years tops. Mine lived about 2 years, but, they had babies, then the babies had babies, and so on. Currently I’m on my 11th generation. I cheated the sea-monkey company!!!! Except I have to keep buying food. :-@
On the right is a picture of a sea-monkey, that I drew with markers. The green-brown stuff is sea-monkey food… I know it looks like the stuff that’s in a toilet, but it’s this stuff that cost me $3.00 out of my allowance, so it better taste like a five-star-meal.

So, let’s talk about the history of the sea-monkey (I promise it won’t be like the 4th grade history class you hated, I’ll make it fun). Well, the sea-monkey is part of the brine shrimp family. Someone just cross-bred two different kinds of brine shrimp, and created sea-monkeys. And a company bought them, and they became $millionaires$.

O.K., before you finish I want you to do two things… #1; please tell me, AM I THE ONLY SEA-MONKEY OWNER IN THE WORLD???? and #2; go out and buy some sea-monkeys, and be nice to them!

Bye, bye. Come back next week to read another one of my makes-no-sense posts! Oh, yeah… come back Monday, also,  to see who won the DuneCraft plant kit…we do it on Mondays because, you know Mondays stink, so we want you to be exited for Monday too. Good Luck, bloglings. :-)

    SBS,
You’ve inspired me. I think I’m going to go buy some Sea Monkeys for my little boy. When I had them as a kid, I was quite disappointed that they didn’t really have faces like they did on the package.

    1. Yes, when my mom first explained to me what sea-monkeys where, I thought they’d look more like monkeys!

  2. I, too, was a sea monkey owner, and I loved the little things! I don’t remember what happened to the last batch I owned (it’s been years), but I think they caught some sort of “Sea monkey flu” and kicked the bucket.

If I didn’t own three fish and a cat already, you definitely would have inspired me to start a new colony :-D

    1. My sea-monkeys definitely where at the dying point, when I bought this “Sea-Monkey Medicine”, which, quite literally, saved them. You can find all sorts of sea-monkey food and toys and stuff at http://www.seamonkey.com

4th grade history class you hated? What?

Sadly, I never owned sea monkeys. I feel left out.

  4. Mrs.Pol… Well, when you have, school, home work (which I have a ton of), the blog, and chores and stuff, when I write a post, I need to say SOMETHING! I type and type and type, and never look back. And history was super boring in 3rd grade, so I guess I could have said that 3rd grade history was boring, but, to late now. Any way, you can get sea-monkeys at Target, sometimes, for $8-$10.

Well, I never owned sea monkeys. I did buy frozen (sometimes fresh) brine shrimp to feed my fish, though. My children have never asked about sea monkeys, and since it’s hard to get them to feed the dogs on a regular basis, I’m not sure a new pet is in order.
I do like how you cheated the sea monkey company! Job well done!! :-)

  6. Mrs. Polamalu says:

You are forgiven Sir! : ) Maybe I’ll have to get sea monkeys for my class pet!!

  7. Laura says:

We are adding the eggs to the tank tonight. Let’s hope there will be generations of sea monkeys flourishing in my home too!
    :)

  8. Jody says:

I’ve owned many many sea monkeys. Right now my kids are growing triops, which are very much like sea monkeys only they don’t wear crowns.

  9. Sir Buffalo Sushi says:

Never heard of triops before. Maybe I’ll just have to raise a tank of triops myself.

I love sea monkeys. My favorite new product is the TickleMe Plant Greenhouse.
In it your can grow a real plant that MOVES when you Tickle It! The leaves instantly close and even the branches droop when Tickled. Just search TickleMe Plant or find them at http://www.ticklemeplant.com See the video. It is fun like sea monkeys except you can tickle them!
