Smiley Tooth
Hi, I’m Sir Buffalo Sushi! Every Friday, I’ll write a blog article, or what ever it’s called. So… OK, let’s get on with it.
When my aunt, (I won’t tell her name, so no body can black-mail her or anything), was a kid, she crashed on her bike, and slammed into a light post. She walked away with only a broken tooth and minor scratches. So, she went to the dentist to get her tooth fixed. And I guess her dentist figured that she was a little girl with a broken tooth, so, while he was repairing her tooth, he drew a little smile on the back of her tooth. And she didn’t find it until, like, 12 years later!
Please note this is not her actual tooth:
So, it brought to my attention, what are surgeons, dentists, doctors, etc. doing to your body that you don’t know about?
Is Surgeon Bob writing, “BOB WAS HERE” on your ribs, with permanent marker?
Is Dentist Jo drawing smiles on the back of your teeth?
Is Doctor Kyle leaving a tiny tool in your ear, when you go in to get ear wax pulled out?
These are all questions we should ask ourselves as we leave the doctor, and dentist, because, for all you know, there might be a smile on the back of your tooth right now!

This is really funny. Of course, now I’ll never be able to go to the doctor or dentist again without questioning what he/she is doing when I’m not paying careful attention! I’ll share this story with my kids!
Now you really have me thinking. I will never be able to sit in the dentist’s chair again without thinking this. I’m just hoping I don’t start giggling when they say,”Open wide.” I wonder if my son’s surgeon has a favorite sports team…
Your post does make me pause when considering ever going under anesthetic again. However, I think you have the basis for a successful marketing venture here. You know, surgeons use implanted mesh to repair many types of injuries. Who wouldn’t pay extra for mesh that, when x-rayed, glowed with the logo of his favorite sports team? Maybe you should get a patent lawyer on the phone right away!
That’s cool! Never thought about that, Elizabeth.
Well this post made me think alot! I’m a nurse and now I’m going to have to think of some way to leave my mark on my patients….:)
I love the idea of a hidden smiley face in someone’s mouth! And Elizabeth, I think you’re on to something!
So that’s why the scar on my knee is in the shape of a smile! I wonder if the doctor who sewed it up autographed my kneecap first.
Well, I’d rather have them leaving smiles than skull and crossbones or frowns or other negative things.
Wow, Sir Buffalo Sushi! I’ve had a lot of work done on my teeth. Now I’m wondering whether there are smiley faces on any of them. I’m going to ask my new dentist to check when I go on Monday.
Hmmm, I remember one time when I had some dental work done, my dentist told me that he was drawing a little smiley face, and I didn’t believe him. I wish I had a special little mirror or something so that I could see inside my mouth. Of course, I don’t remember WHICH tooth!
Now that I think about it, there was an actor on some game show who claimed that he had his character engraved on one of his teeth.
I like the idea of teeth autographing, but not some of those other things you mentioned!!
Dear Sir Buffalo Sushi,
I have spent the better part of two hours searching all my teeth for smiley faces or other such markings. So far, so good… I seem to be free of graffiti.
I’ve had a lot of work done on my teeth too. I’ll have to check for smiley faces on the backs now that I’ve read this!
I’m curious how your aunt discovered this mystery smiley face on her tooth after 12 years!
Very interesting post.
And I was just getting over my fear of the dentist, now I find out he might be drawing pictures in my mouth? Yikes!
